Photojojo Uncut: The Most Popular Camera is now… a phone?!

If people think an iphone is 'good enough' then they have very low expectations. Many of the iphone pics I see on Flickr aren't even good enough for you to be able to see the things mentioned in the title.

It's not what you've got, it's how you use it! I think for the vast amount of people, cameras are used for capturing moments. There is nothing easier than snapping an iPhone shot. And with so many cool apps available, it is possible to process your shots to make them more artistic. It's no 5DMKII, but how easy is it to cram that beast in your pocket :-P

"Quality not quantity", as my teacher always used to say.

I think this is awesome! Think of how much of our grandparents lives we don't have photos of, because in 1943, no one brought their camera to a grocery store! Now we do! What a treat for future generations.

Well, yes and no. It's come close to destroying photojournalism as a profession. There's something to be said for trained people doing something they're paid for. Yet it's also given people in the right place at the right time a chance to document once-in-a-lifetime images.

Like damn near everything, it's a double edged sword.

Hey, for some of us, the camera IS an always-present device used in everyday documentation. :)
